We present certificates as well so be there to get yours. All friends are welcome whether they are divers or not.……..

Next Crew Night

On Crew night our guest speaker is Arun Reedy who is an expert on early Polynesian migration within the South Pacific. His presentation will cover the traditional Polynesian/Maori way of navigating the South Pacific and shows that they were able to navigate freely around the Pacific. He is also involved with helping sail a modern day Polynesian sailing vessel within New Zealand waters using traditional methods. Specifically he will cover the use of Meridian stars pairs chart, the star compass, and the star chart. He will also talk about a publication that he wrote for a secondary schools science curriculum.

Bring friends, everyone is welcome. This promises to be a fascinating subject given by a practicing expert.

Last Speaker

Our last speaker was Megan Howell. She told us about spending one week as part of a four week survey for humpback whales at Tory Channel in Cook Strait. The aim of the survey was to investigate the number of whales migrating through Cook Strait and to assess recovery since commercial whaling stopped in 1963. The Cook Strait project comprised numerous volunteers including ex-whalers.

Megan is a keen scuba diver who has an interest in whales and the marine environment. On the boat, she was in charge of photographing the whale’s tails. In the land team, she used binoculars to search for whales from the cliff top. She created a PowerPoint explaining the history of the Tory Channel whaling, the ex whalers who now participate in the survey, and mainly focused on her exciting experience of being a volunteer involved in something quite unique.

Thank you Megan for an excellent evening.

LEARN THE SIGNS OF A HEART ATTACK

Warning signs vary from person to person and they may not always be sudden or severe. Although chest pain or discomfort is the most common symptom of a heart attack, some people will not experience chest pain at all, while others will experience only mild chest pain or discomfort.

When having a heart attack you may experience pain, pressure, heaviness or tightness in one or more parts of your upper body, in combination with other symptoms. People have described feeling generally unwell or ‘not quite right’.

Heart attack symptoms vary.  They are not always sudden or severe. Many start slowly with only mild pain or discomfort. Some people experience one symptom, while others experience a combination. But the one thing all heart attacks have in common is that the sooner you receive treatment, the less damage will be done.

If you experience the warning signs of a heart attack for 10 minutes, if they are severe or get progressively worse, call 111 immediately and ask for an ambulance.

Fourth Element

We now have drysuit Arctic undergarments, beanie, wetsuit long sleeve and vest tops and wetsuit socks in stock. They are far superior to any undergarment or wetsuit vest sold in Wellington.

The slightly thinner Xerotherm drysuit long sleeve top and legging undergarments will suit you if you get too hot in your drysuit using an Arctic!!

We now have a range of wetsuit undergarments.

We are so sure of their quality that we guarantee satisfaction. If you buy one and it doesn’t increase your thermal protection we will offer you a full refund when you return the garment. Some conditions apply.

DRYSUITS

The Freedom Drysuit is a 3mm hyper compressed neoprene with a front zip, telescopic body with latex or neoprene seals and retails at $2,355.00.  Front zips mean you do not need someone to zip you up...

The Bravo 4mm hyper compressed neoprene drysuit is the traditional back entry zip. This titanium lined suit is well tested and retails at $2140.00.

The sport version is the Xeric 5mm compressed neoprene which retails at $1,955.00.

We can also provide Otter and Viking membrane stock drysuits which require an undergarment.
