DPVWhy?
Diver Propulsion Vehicles (aka scooters) add more range to your diving. They can make a dive more relaxing (by reducing / eliminating the need to kick) or exhilarating by covering a large area of ground quickly. Either way you'll keep smiling long after your dive!. DPV's may provide the only way to get out to that special spot under water - certainly the easiest way from shore! Learn how to:

  • Cover significantly more area on a dive
  • Get to dive sites you've never been able to reach before
  • Save energy & air by minimising kicking on long surface & U/W swims
  • You must be DPV qualified to hire them from us (& almost all other places).

What's involved?
Theory of Underwater Navigation (compass & natural), practice on land, 2 supervised open water dives in which to learn & practice your new knowledge & skills, including:

  • Identify the hazards of DPV diving & demonstrate the techniques & procedures required to minimise those hazards
  • Plan & organise dives to safely use DPV's in appropriate depths & conditions
  • Demonstrate practical diving knowledge & planning procedures that make diving with a DPV fun
  • Various driving, swimming & streamlining techniques
  • Appropriate speed control in various terrain & conditions, &
  • Navigation techniques while driving.
