Enriched Air

Courses >> PADI Courses >> Specialties >> Enriched Air

Why?
When diving deeper, do you find your bottom time limited to your no-decompression limit, with plenty of air remaining in your tank/s? Imagine diving the Mikhail Lermontov, but only able to spend 14-20 minutes on its hull, seeing either the bow or the propellers at the stern (but not time for both!) & perhaps the gashes where it hit the rocks - if you're lucky, before having to ascend up to its superstructure. How would you like to be able to significantly increase that available no-decompression time? Safely! Learn how to:

  • Significantly increase most of your no decompression bottom times at depth
  • Avoid the possible operational & U/W hazards associated with oxygen (O2)

Become certified to:

  • Purchase, rent & care for equipment used with enriched air - up 40% O2, &
  • Obtain fills for appropriate enriched air cylinders up to 40% O2 - you must have an EANx certification to hire tanks filled with above 21% O2.

What's involved?
Theory of EANx diving, practice on land (day 1) & 2 supervised open water dives in which to learn & practice your new knowledge & skills (day 2), including:

  • Plan & make no decompression dives using enriched air blends containing 22% - 40% O2, remaining within accepted dive table & O2 exposure limits
  • How to analyse a dive cylinder's contents to find the % of O2 contained, &
  • How to determine which equipment can be used with up to 40% O2

What are the prerequisites?
You must be at least PADI Open Water Diver qualified or equivalent (just ask us!) & a minimum of 15 years old. EANx is not an option on the Advanced O/W course.

What's it cost?
$395, including EANx SCUBA cylinder hire, 3 EANx dive planning tables, specialty manual & certification as a PADI EANx Diver.
