Peak Performance Buoyancy

Courses >> PADI Courses >> Specialties >> Peak Performance Buoyancy

Why?
The purpose of the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty is to assist all divers in polishing their buoyancy skills, to be able to calmly & naturally control your buoyancy in a fluid manner. Learn how to:

  • Dive with less effort & more fun
  • Extend your bottom times through reduced air consumption
  • Have more opportunities for positive interactions with aquatic life
  • Help preserve fragile U/W environments, &
  • Prolong the life of your diving equipment

Theory of buoyancy control, practice on land, 2 supervised open water dives in which to learn & practice your new knowledge & skills, including:

  • Various ways to position & distribute weight on yourself & your equipment
  • How to check if you are weighted correctly (most divers shed a few kg's here!)
  • Fine-tuning your buoyancy U/W
  • Various swimming & streamlining techniques, &
  • Visualisation - a technique to help you transform from how you are currently diving (like a brick or balloon?) to how you should be diving (effortlessly).

What do I need to start?
You must be at least PADI Junior Open Water Diver certified or equivalent (just ask us!).

What's it cost?
$135, including SCUBA cylinder hire & certification as a PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialist. The cost of this specialty is extremely low, as after purchasing diving equipment, the first thing every new (& not so new) diver should achieve is being in total control of their buoyancy.
