Why?
It can capture moments in time, tell a story, even evoke strong feelings. Relive your favourite experiences by capturing the wonder & adventure of the aquatic realm with U/W videography. Learn how to:
- Dive safely with an U/W video camera
- Demonstrate appropriate videography techniques & avoid common errors
- Video different types of U/W life (still life, fish, divers etc.)
- Edit and produce an U/W video that tells a story, &
- Select an U/W video system based on your own personal preferences.
What's involved?
Theory of Underwater Videography, practice on land, 3 supervised open water dives (over 2 days) in which to learn & practice your new knowledge & skills, including:
- Videography basics (common to all video cameras above & below the water
- Exposure, focus & perspective, controlling motion, colour & the spectrum, video camera types, & use of lights.
- U/W videography principles
- How water affects sharpness & colour
- Submersible video cameras, housings, lights & lenses
- Video composition, shots, moves & the most useful U/W shooting angle
- How to set an U/W video camera for proper exposure
- Diving with a video system
- Using multiple lights
- Set-up, maintain & disassemble a video camera, housing & lights.
What are the prerequisites?
You must be at least PADI Junior Open Water Diver qualified or equivalent (just ask us!).
What's it cost?
$200, including SCUBA cylinder hire & certification as a PADI U/W Videographer
