Certain areas of the world provide spectacular dives at depths deeper than 39m/130 feet but you will not have access (or very limited access) to helium. The TDI Extended Range course teaches you the proper techniques for utilizing compressed air as a breathing gas and with a maximum depth of 55m/180 feet you won’t have to miss those dives.
This course provides you with the training and experience required to competently plan and execute decompression dives down to 55m. The course requires the diver to demonstrate competency with the full range of technical equipment and complete staged decompression using nitrox mixes.
The Extended Range course will cover topics and skills such as equipment requirements and configuration, decompression options, use of surface marker buoys, buddy rescue, and narcosis checks and management. During the course you will do 2 dives deeper than 30m and 2 dives deeper than 40m.
To take this course you must have logged 100 or more dives(25 deeper than 30m), be Decompression Procedures and Advanced Nitrox certified and at least 18 years old.
This course can be run at any time of year on request.
The theory is at our Dive Centre in Mana near Porirua, Wellington. To get the depth we need for this course the dives are usually run in Taupo.
