The universal CCR Retaining strap offers both comfort and safety
It holds the mouthpiece in position allowing for a very relaxed grip on the mouthpiece bite. With the hose weights and hose length adjusted correctly the AP mouthpiece should sit comfortably in your mouth anyway but the headstrap offers additional protection against jaw fatigue on long dives
It also ensures the mouthpiece is held in place and the diver remains on the loop in the event of them going unconscious for whatever reason and it reduces the task-load on a rescue diver who does not have to hold the mouthpiece in place during the rescue
