Specialty courses are important for many reasons. You learn about the safety aspects of diving in the specific environment and/or with the specialised equipment – as well as how to get the most out of your time diving in the Specialty area.
Most Specialty courses only require you to be an Open Water Diver and some don’t even require you to be a certified diver at all. Others have more pre-requisites as they demand more of your SCUBA skills. If you are an Open Water Diver and have been thinking of doing your Advanced Open Water course, you can do this with your first five Specialty courses as long as they meet the criteria and include Navigation and Deep Diver.
At New Zealand Sea Adventures we highly recommend the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty, TDI Nitrox Diver or PADI EANx, PADI Night Diver, and certainly your PADI Navigation and Deep Diver courses. PADI Wreck Diver is a personal favourite as Tony is fanatical about wreck diving and be sure to try the Search and Recovery Specialty. The Drysuit diver Specialty is a must for anybody weary of the cold and we have an extensive range of all the best new Drysuits on offer as well. Search and Recovery and Dive Against Debris are far too much fun to be missed out on and the AWARE Specialty is a must. You really need to learn about Digital Underwater Photo/Videography too, well at least we think so. Capture all the best moments to share with family, friends and for all the nostalgic types, great photo’s and videos are excellent for looking back and reminiscing every now and then..
One of the more recent styles of Recreational Diving is Sidemount – theSidemount Specialty course is a great option for those wanting more bottom time without the extra weight of Twin tanks. The flexibility of our new Sidemount rigs is astounding, they also have some of the best features for excellent trim and overall comfort in the water.
There are plenty of Specialty course options available so you can pick and choose to your preferred interests or ask us for advice on a Specialty we think you will benefit from and enjoy. We’d love to help.
