Trimix Diver

The TDI Trimix Diver course is the open circuit divers introduction to diving deeper than air limits. Here we dive to depths as deep as 60m utilizing gas mixes containing helium and not less than 18% oxygen. This course is informative, challenging and is a pre-requisite for the Advanced Trimix course.

Why take the TDI Trimix Dive Course?

NZ Sea Adventures Trimix new zealand sea adventures wellington The objective of the course is to train you in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures of utilising trimix breathing gas. Many of the best preserved wrecks lie deeper than air limits as the lack of swell and light has kept them in better shape. The safest way to explore these depths is using trimix, and you will certainly remember more of your dive that way. Diving to these depths requires greater gas and deco planning which you will learn in this course.

What’s involved in the course?

During the course you will learn equipment management, multiple stage cylinder labeling and placement, complex decompression planning and contingency planning, gas planning, dive team awareness and communication, gas monitoring and management and the use of travel gasses. During the course you will do a minimum of 4 dives, two of which are deeper that 40 metres.

Who can take the Trimix Diver course?

To take the course you must be Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures certified, have 100 or more logged dives and at least 18 years old.

When does the course run?

This course is run for small groups or individuals on request.

Where does the course run?

We start with the theory at our dive centre in Mana near Porirua, Wellington.  The dives for this course is usually run in Taupo.
