Description
The SMB is a diver aid that can be used to indicate you are ascending, to assist with maintaining your safety stop depth and also to indicate your location when you are on the surface. It is usually used with a reel or finger spool.
Why take the PADI SMB Specialty course?
When you need to let your boat know that you are ascending or where you are on the surface, you need a surface marker buoy.
What’s involved in the course?
The SMB Diver Specialty course familiarizes you with the techniques and procedures necessary to use the SMB on and below the surface. This includes: techniques and hazards for preparing and launching an SMB.
Who can take the SMB course?
To take this course you must have a Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification and be at least 12 years old. You will need your own Surface Marker Buoy, we have them in stock.
When does the course run?
All our specialties run regularly year round. Our training staff can work out an individual schedule for the specialty courses that interest you.
Where does the course run?
For the dives we head to one of the many local Porirua or Wellington dive sites.
